New Partnerships, New Travels, New Dreams

The Three Sisters Cultural Centre is creating a new home for the Quilt of Belonging at the TriSisters Art House in St. Jacobs. We are honoured to once again give all Canadians the opportunity to experience the Quilt as we resume its travels across our great nation and around the world. We believe Canada’s greatest strength lies in our diversity.

Jax Rula and Adrienne Carter, two of the Three Sisters Cultural Centre management team, have joined the board of the Quilt of Belonging and will embark upon managing the Quilt as it travels across Canada and the World.

The Quilt of Belonging, one of Canada’s National Treasures, began its journey more than 25 years ago in the Glengarry Village of Williamstown. Esther Bryan, the visionary force behind the Quilt, had a strong sense of family and community values. Her boundless energy mobilized thousands of volunteers to take part in an incredible project – an invitation for all cultures to celebrate their common humanity and find their unique place in the Canadian mosaic.

In the past five years, and in particular after Esther’s passing in 2022, the Board of Directors of the Quit of Belonging had been considering different options that would ensure the continuing mission of the Quilt; to travel the world telling the stories of Canadians of all types, from the First Nations to the new citizens of today, from coast to coast to coast who all call this wonderful country home. Now they are pleased to announce this new partnership with the Three Sisters Cultural Centre of St. Jacobs Ontario.

As a not-for-profit, the Three Sisters Cultural Centre is dedicated to supporting the Canadian arts community through events planning and art shows like WEFTFest fibre arts festival and the Kissing Bridge Art Show. The Quilt of Belonging board felt that we have the extensive experience in museum administration, exhibition planning and community art projects required to manage the Quilt.

There are so many people and organizations in the Glengarry area and beyond that must be thanked for the 25 years of imagination, creativity, artistic and cultural input, that dreamed of and created this remarkable gift to Canada. You have inspired one of Canada’s National Treasures.  With this new management team we look forward to many more years of Esther’s dream project, “ A Place for All”— telling Canada’s heartfelt Fibre Arts Story.
